At A Glance

How to fish in Endacopia is a Misery Town mini-game: earn a fishing license, present it to Captain Scuba at the pier, then wait for a nibble and hold reel tension until the catch logs. The Steam trophy I Want To Be A Fisherman needs the full fish set — not a single lucky reel. This page is license → cast → aquarium night loops → achievement, not a full Act dump. How do I get the fishing license in Endacopia?

Fishing is release Act 2+ content. You cannot start the pier mini-game until Misery Town opens and the license quest finishes. Full town routing lives on the walkthrough; this section is only the fishing gate.

Endacopia fishing mini-game — pier rod and water
  • Do01Reach Misery Town (post-demo open area)
  • Do02Pick up the skateboard for outdoor traversal; hop off at interiors
  • Do03Finish the town hide-and-seek (line-of-sight: one side cannot hide indoors)
  • Do04Accept the reward fishing license (“token of gratitude”)
  • Do05Go to the pier and present the license to Captain Scuba
  • Do06Only then does the fishing interaction unlock

Present vs own

Captain Scuba dialogue blocks the pier until you use the present / show license verb. Players who pocket the card and click the pier get the same “valid fishing license” refusal — that is intended, not a softlock. Open pockets, select the license, present it, then cast.

Demo vs full game

The free Steam demo ends before Misery Town fishing. If you only own the demo, you will not see Captain Scuba or the Fisherman trophy — buy the July 27, 2026 build.

How to fish in Endacopia — nibble & reel

Once Scuba clears the pier, how to fish in Endacopia is a two-beat rhythm: cast, wait for a real nibble, then keep the line reeled in through the fight window. Mashing the reel before the bite wastes casts; releasing too early drops the fish.

StepWhat you doFail look

2 · CastEnter pier fishing modeClicking water with no rod UI
3 · WaitHold until nibbleReeling empty water
4 · FightKeep reel tensionLine snaps / fish escapes
5 · LogNote species nameRepeating only “reddest fish” fillers
  • Do01Confirm Scuba has accepted the license and left the cast spot
  • Do02Enter the fishing interaction (rod / water framing changes)
  • Do03Wait — do not spam reel before the nibble cue
  • Do04On nibble, hold reel tension until the catch resolves
  • Do05Read the catch name toast; log it toward the full set
  • Do06Recast or leave; HI progress is per species, not one marathon cast

Read the nibble, not the boredom

Community full-release footage shows long idle casts before the bite. Treat it like soccer timing on how to kick: watch one clean cycle before you “optimize.” Panic reels feel productive and catch nothing.

When to fish in the act order

Best windows: after skateboard unlock, between Trapezist setup and night Chameleon hunts, or any time Tip / NPCs push you toward the aquarium. Worst windows: mid-chase Henry pressure or first-time stage unlock puzzles — finish those gates first via Trapezist / walkthrough.

Endacopia fish list — what can I catch?

Steam’s I Want To Be A Fisherman only says “Caught every fish” — it does not print a public checklist. Community playthroughs log repeating commons plus rarer shapes. Use the table as a working log, not a claimed complete bestiary; update names against your build’s catch toasts.

The Reddest Fish EverVery common filler catch□
EelAppears after several common casts□

How to know you are done

The achievement overlay is the only hard stop. If Steam has not popped I Want To Be A Fisherman, you are missing at least one species — return to the pier after story beats instead of assuming a softlock.

Why visit the aquarium at night?

After the license reward, NPCs tell you to come by the aquarium at night near the town entrance. The aquarium is not a second fishing rod — it is a day/night progress check and a place your catches “belong” in the fiction. Night loops also matter for Chameleon visibility; pier fishing is the calm activity between those windows.

  • Do01Note aquarium location: near Misery Town entrance
  • Do02Advance time / wait for night when tipped
  • Do03Visit to confirm reopen / NPC reactions after catches
  • Do04Use pier fish loops while waiting for the next night window
  • Do05Do not softlock outdoors if Tip says get inside — Chameleon

Fishing as Chameleon downtime

Act 3 night bosses punish outdoor camping. The intended bridge is short pier sessions or aquarium checks — not standing in the dark hunting an invisible Chameleon. Pair this page with Chameleon and the Act 3 block on walkthrough.

How do I unlock I Want To Be A Fisherman?

I Want To Be A Fisherman (~3.5% day-one rate on our Steam mirror) unlocks when every fish species has been caught after the license gate. It is a completion grind, not a story flag for Escape / Return / Stay.

Session plan

Do not leave the entire set for post-credits. Sprinkle pier casts between Misery Town errands. Keep a notepad of unique names. When only duplicates remain, change time of day / leave and re-enter the pier once, then continue — still update Steam if a patch retunes rates.

Wire the rest of completion on achievements. Soccer Footwork Master is a separate bedroom grind — how to kick.

Patch / softlock notes

Steam 1.03 fixed unrelated Chameleon / core-room softlocks and Water Break tracking; 1.04 added cloud saves and dice-room stability. Fishing itself was not called out as broken — if the pier refuses input, re-present the license and verify you are on the latest build (verified August 9, 2026).

FAQ

How to fish in Endacopia?

Present the fishing license to Captain Scuba at the Misery Town pier, cast, wait for a nibble, then hold reel tension until the catch logs.

Where is the fishing license in Endacopia?

Finish Misery Town hide-and-seek for the “token of gratitude” license, then present it to Scuba — owning it is not enough.

Is fishing in the Endacopia demo?

No. Pier fishing and I Want To Be A Fisherman are full-release Act 2+ content.

Why does Captain Scuba still block me?

Use the present/show license action. Inventory ownership alone never clears the pier.

How do I catch every fish / all fish guide?

Keep a unique-name log from catch toasts until I Want To Be A Fisherman unlocks. Commons like Reddest Fish Ever repeat on purpose.

Does fishing matter for endings?

Not for the basic Escape / Return / Stay families — it is a completion trophy. See endings.

What about the aquarium?

Visit at night near the town entrance when NPCs tip you — it ties day/night progress and pairs with Chameleon downtime.

What else should I keep in mind?

Fishing shares the game’s edutainment joke: a “kid’s pier” mini-game with adult completion pressure.

Skateboard to the pier, hop off before interiors, then cast — skating into doors wastes time.

If Tip warns about outdoor softlock pressure, go inside before the next night hunt — pier loops are safe downtime, not an excuse to camp Chameleon.

Steam achievement text can lag local patches; re-check the overlay after updating to 1.04+.

Pair fish sessions with other Act 2 grinds so credits do not dump soccer + dice + fish in one chore night.

Name spelling in catch toasts wins over any wiki table — always trust the toast on your build.

Captain Scuba’s “ocean rules” dialogue is flavor; the only mechanical gate is the presented license.

For room-by-room story order before the pier, use walkthrough; for combat nights after fish, use Chameleon and Trapezist.
